The large-aperture modular optical system, nom truly nomadic.
The Sevunscope CORE 250 f/4 redefines what a large-aperture instrument is. With a 250 mm aperture, you enter a completely new dimension of light-gathering power. Thanks to the CORE platform, this power is no longer synonymous with bulk: it is a true “galaxy hunter” that goes wherever you go.
The idea behind the CORE platform
Instead of a massive, hard-to-transport tube, we developed an open chassis made from aeronautical-grade aluminum. This architecture combines the power of a 250 mm mirror with unprecedented portability.
What this changes in the field ?
Uncompromised mobility: Unlike solid 250 mm tubes, the CORE fits easily into its dedicated carrying system (coming soon), turning an imposing instrument into a compact and well-protected setup.
Thermal equilibrium: A 250 mm mirror has significant thermal inertia. The open structure of the CORE platform allows full air circulation on all sides of the mirror, ensuring rapid thermal equilibrium and stable, sharp images from the very beginning of the night.
Durable design: The use of aluminum combined with high-performance Nylon components (SLS 3D printing) ensures a rigid and long-lasting instrument. Each unit is hand-assembled and individually inspected in our workshop. The mechanical structure is guaranteed for life.
A reliable optical system (GSO)
With 56% more light than a 200 mm, the 250 f/4 is a true photon machine. Its 74 mm secondary mirror limits obstruction to preserve contrast while ensuring excellent focal-plane illumination. The 2"/1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser supports even the most complete imaging trains with perfect stability.
An investment for your lifetime as an astronomer
The key strength of the Sevun system is its modularity. If your interests evolve or if you wish to explore new apertures, you keep your main investment: the CORE platform chassis. Simply install a new optical kit to transform your instrument according to your current practice.
